My Equipment
For many photographers, it is important to know what equipment does their second shooter use. Here is my list.
My main camera is the Canon R6 mirrorless camera purchased in July 2021. I love it for super fast and accurate AI focus. The second camera that I use is a Canon 5D Mark IV. Both are great and the picture quality is amazing! Each body has two card slots, which gives me a perfect backup should anything happen to one card.

- Speed. In a fast action situation (ceremony, first dance, documentary), I want to have both my wide-angle and telephoto lenses instantly available. I wear a double shoulder harness so both cameras are instantly at my fingertips.
- Redundancy. If one of the cameras fails, I will still be able to continue shooting.
Knowing when to use the correct lens, is one of the keys that makes a photographer be a professional.

When I'm not booked for serving weddings alone, inviting me as a second photographer can be beneficial for you in a variety of situations
- Groom prepThe bride and groom with their wedding party can be photographed at the same time as they get ready.
- Alternate anglesDuring the wedding ceremony, any movement is often restricted, so a second photographer can provide another perspective that would not be possible when shooting alone.
- Family & Friend reactionsA second photographer puts more attention to the emotional reactions of family and friends which may be in the opposite direction from the focus of attention of the main photographer.
- Signature photosNo worries that any action will be missed while the main photographer is involved in setting up his signature shots.
- Two different areas to be covered at onceSo if the venue is very large, it’s pretty much a necessity to have two photographers on-site, especially if you are not too speedy on foot =)
- Assistance in everythingThe second shooter assists with difficult shots, holding lights, ladders and carrying extra gear when needed.
